Lydney 3rd X1 153-7 V Alvington 152 All Out
Alvington batted first and started well on a dark overcast day in Bathurst Park. Harry Williams and debutant Aubrey Stubbs bowled probing spells and were unlucky to end their opening spells wicketless. Isfan and Salman both rode their luck on a sporting pitch to record scores of 64 and 21 respectively. Ross Howells who went on to return 2-37 broke their stand. M Bridges scored a hard hitting 23 as wickets fell regularly around him. Phil Nelmes being the pick of the Lydney bowlers returning 4-10. Another debutant Corey Notley-Barnard took 2 for 22 with a good spell of bowling. Lydneys innings began steadily with Andrew Davis scoring 36 and ushering his team to 75-6 when he was dismissed. At this stage Alvington looked likely to win comfortably, but the two debutants Corey Notley-Barnard 32 not out and Aubrey Stubbs 21 not out had other ideas and put on an unbeaten 65 to see Lydney home by 3 wickets.
This was an excellent team performance from an inexperienced but promising Lydney team.
